The work of Philoptochos women supports many institutions on an international, national and local level.   We are proud of the many roles that we play and the variety of individuals and charities that we support.  Our chapter was founded in 1959 and has been a continuous presence on the charitable work of this parish.  Our women are present in all aspects of St. Demetrios life and in the greater Boston community.

Within our own parish we...

Visit homebound parishioners through our "Care Minitry."  THese individuals are remembered during the Christmas and Easter seasons with gifts and special visits.

Serve at the Framingham Salvation Army Soup Kitchen on a montly basis.

Sponsor the "Senior Citizens Ministry."  Our senior parishioners gather together monthly for a field trip or speaker.  These gatherings iclude Liturgy and lunch and are tremendously popular.

Award sholoarships to college or graduate students from the parish.

Sponsor religious retreats and educational seminars.

Award campships to the Annual Metropolis of Boston Summer Camp.

Philoptochos has grown and expanded its activites because the women of this parish have heeded the call.  We are deeply grateful to those women who preceded us, who rolled bandages for the Red Cross, who sewed for the cnacer home patients, who made the pastries, and who supported the national charities.  Even though many could not speak the language of America, these women did understand the language of kindness and charity.

Come join this dynamic group as we seek to enlarge our membership so that we can do even more for those in need.  New challenges await and unacticipated needs continue to present themselves.  As much as our chapter does, it can always do more.
