St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church offers the Greek Language School for children in grades PreK through six.  Classes meet weekly on Tuesday afternoons from 4p.m. to 6p.m. during the academic year.  The School calendar corresponds with school closing and vacation schedules for the Weston Public Schools.

The overall goal is increased knowledge of the Greek Language with an emphasis on speaking, reading and writing.  Our teacher recognize that students learning styles and study habits vary and therefore utilize a variety of written and oral mediums to teach students the Greek Language and to promote our rich Greek culture, faith and heritage.

At the beginning of each academic year, teachers administer formal and informal assessments to evaluate students knowledge of the Greek language.  This information guides teachers as they instruct lessons throughout the academic year.

The primary goal of our St. Demetrios Greek School is therefore to promote the learning of the Greek language.  In addition, and is important, it has aim to instill a love and appreciation for the Greek Orthodox faith and heritage through a variety of experiences such as Geek dancing, learning of ethnic songs, field trips, etc.  Such efforts, we believe, will develop a deep respect for the culture and the faith of their parents and grandparents and will lead them to inherit and benefit from the rich traditions of Hellenism.
