ST. DEMETRIOS CHURCH SCHOOL

2008 - 2009

We look forward to the upcoming Church School year.  Classes begin at 9:30 a.m. with the start of the Divine Liturgy.  A productive Church School program must incorporate the Divine Liturgy ans so we pray and ask that all our students make every effort to arrive by the start of the Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. for family worship.  Classes start right after Holy Communion.  Look for information regarding our new Church School Challenge!

Verse for the Month: "I am the Vine; You are the branches.  He who abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit."   John 15:5.

September Dates To Remember

Sunday, September 21 - Church School Classes Resume, Agiasmos Service and Harvest for Hunger (Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12).

Our first

"RAINFOREST ADVENTURE" VACATION BIBLE CHURCH SCHOOL

at St. Demetrios was a BLAST!

We had such a great time together, singing, praying, playing games, doing crafts, and hearing all about God's word in the Bible.  We made friends with Shari the butterfly, Bill the Tucan, Tad the frog, Esme the macaw, and Cleo the monkey.  Everyone was busy doing op-art, vine belts, bean mosaic art, playing funky-monkey, give-it-up, and so many other crafts and games.  Every morning we prayed  in Church with Fr. Alex and in Story Telling we heard about beautiful bible stories that taught us how to share, give, grow, love and praise Jesus our Lord.   Almost every day we went outside and blew  bubbles, play  Frisbee and hula  hoop, while enjoying refreshing ice-cream.   In the last day Pinata was a blast and we were able to practice our sharing and giving skills, as we tried to be like Jesus.

We were so blessed with wonderful volunteers, students and parents!  From registration, teachers, team leaders, snacks, planning the program to activity leaders  for games, crafts, and Story Telling, our volunteers come all together and gave it all.  They shared their time and talent, making our  first Vacation Bible Church School a great success.  Thank you parents for all your help and support and thank you students for joining us!   We are so blessed with a wonderful community!   THANK YOU ALL!!

And thank you Lord for blessing our program and our community in everything we are doing!

Blessings,

Church School Staff
